They know that if they make their products upwards of 80% less for the students and teachers, then they will buy their products, and learn and teach how to use them. When the students get out of school, the only programs they will know how use are Adobe products, but being as they are no longer students, they will be forced to pay full price for their Adobe stuff. This is not a matter of opinion as much as it as a matter of logic and linguistics. Let's say your coach, for whatever sport, gives you a plaque in front of the whole team and says he is giving it to you because of your performance in last week's game. In addition he's also recommended a college coach to come and watch you play. Then he says "oh, it's not an award." What would you think? Logically you would either assume that a) it's not an award and it's just some bit of bizarrely focused luck, or more reasonably b) it obviously really is an award, and he simply said it wasn't to help quell any ill feelings or disapprovals from the rest of the team on his choice. Daily Deviations operate in a similar way. But like the example, make no mistake, it is an award.
